Hormone Therapy

Traditional Hormone replacement therapy consists of synthetic hormones, namely Premarin and Provera. A federal study called “The Women’s Health Initiative” was completed in 2002. Mild to serious side effects were discovered particularly in women taking a combination of the two, often referred to as Prempro. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) was actually introduced over 3 decades ago.

Why Bio-identical hormones are important

Bio-identical hormones are manufactured in the lab to duplicate the same molecular structure as those made in your own body. Because they are native to the body, patients are generally relieved from side effects and get considerable improvement in how they feel

Symptoms it treats

Menstrual irregularity, hot flashes, fatigue, sleep problems, mood swings, anxiety, crying spells, vaginal dryness, leaky bladder, sexual function, hair loss, acne, bone loss and changes in cholesterol levels.

In both men and women it helps improve libido, reduce the rate of conversion of muscle to fat, and maintains higher energy levels.

How it works

After completing a panel of hormone tests (done by blood, urine, saliva or a combination) Dr. Kulick will write a prescription that will fill your individual hormone needs. The prescription will be a cocktail of hormones (1-3 Estrogens, Progesterone, DHEA, Pregnenolone and Testosterone) uniquely compounded for your individual needs.

Methodology

Your particular prescription might be taken orally, sublingually (under the tongue) or through transdermal (rubbed into the skin) creams or patches.

Side effects

Because Bio-identical hormones are native to the body, patients are generally relieved from side effects and get considerable improvement in how they feel. One may assume that the bio-identical hormones are safer since they duplicate the native hormones as opposed to introducing a synthetic variant.
